So, you’ve planned your dream summer wedding… and the forecast says heatwave. Don’t sweat it - literally. We’ve photographed hundreds of summer weddings, and with a few simple tricks, you can keep your cool, look incredible, and enjoy every second.
1. Water is Your New Best Friend
Hydrate like your happiness depends on it (because it kinda does). Start the day before, sip all morning, and keep going all day. Bonus points for tossing some electrolytes in there. Assign someone from your wedding party as your official Hydration Hero - their mission: keep your glass full and your body happy.
2. Chill Where You Get Ready
If your “getting ready” room feels like a sauna, you’ll be melting before you even get your dress or suit on. Find a space with AC, fans, or at least good airflow. Your makeup, hair, and general mood will thank you.
3. Shift the Photo Plan
Nobody wants “midday squint + sweat” in their portraits. We’ll find the shadiest spots, push outdoor portraits to cooler hours, and make golden hour your BFF.
4. Sunscreen is Non-Negotiable
Clear sunscreen is your best friend - no white streaks in photos. Reapply before long stretches outdoors. Sunglasses between shots can also save your eyes from all that bright light.
5. Dress for Success (and Airflow)
Lighter fabrics, breathable layers, and for the grooms - maybe a fresh shirt waiting for you before the reception. Think “cool and classy,” not “wedding day sauna.”
6. Bring Your Cool-Down Arsenal
Mini fans, cooling towels, water misters… I’ve even seen couples keep a cooler of icy washcloths for emergency refreshes. It’s a vibe.
7. Heat-Proof Your Hair & Makeup
Tell your hair and makeup artists what you’re up against - they’ll have tricks and products to keep everything in place. Pack blotting papers and setting spray for quick touch-ups.
8. Keep Guests Happy Too
If your ceremony is outside, set out parasols, paper fans, or make sure there’s shade. Happy guests = happy photos.
Bottom line: The heat might be high, but your vibes can stay cool. We’ll adjust, adapt, and make sure you look and feel amazing so your biggest worry is whether to hit the dance floor or the dessert table first.
